Is a 3.66 UC GPA bad enough that having (a super high SAT score, great extra curriculars, and an outstanding essay) won't make a difference? I want to get into this school but now that i think of it, my UC GPA is just too low because i got C's both semesters from the same class, consequently lowering my UC GPA by .2 points. So should i just stop hoping, and hope that i'll get in as a transfer? thanks

Yea..same problem for me. My UC GPA is a 3.8, went from 3.6 in sophmore year to 4.08 Junior year though. Then my UC GPA this semester was 4.3

Assuming a super high SAT score, great extra-curriculars, and an outstanding essay,
UCLA: Match

Would a 2150 count as a super high SAT score?

Taiwanese: No.... x_x

For sliguy, I'm assuming that by 'super' high SAT score, you mean that you're well into the 2200s...?

2150 is way about UCLA's average, I got the same score (with a slightly lower GPA than you) and my counselor said that with a killer essay I should be alright for UCs (I am in state). He also mentioned some way of applying with test scores only, which I would ask your school counselor about. I think its something where provided you have about a 650 in each subject you qualify. I ended up not applying to UCs, so I'm not super sure what the story is with that, but I'd look into it. Good luck!

Hmmm...thanks. I'm actually still trying to pull my SAT up to the 2100's.

So 2100 SAT with my under average GPA with great essay and EC. Am I stilll a reach?

wow. i was expecting more of a reach, but just to clarify the 3.66 is the weighted GPA. And ya, by high SAT i meant 2200 or above. thanks

A super-high SAT score for UCLA is 2250 or above.

oh no.....x_x

I almost thought this was silly101...

it also depends on your high school- and the environment you're around. I scored a 2180 and that was the highest at my high school - got into cornell, cal, and columbia engineering as well. Write a damn good essay to give yourself a shot.

my school's grades are way inflated. In order to get into ELC at our school you can only have one B. The two C's i got at an inflated school will hurt me alot then. But there are probably only 7 people who scored 2100 and above, so scoring a 2250 would put me in the top 3 or 4 in my class.

@TaiwaneseTerror, I had a 4.0 and a 2190, so I guess we're similar. Don't apply for engineering though, I think this year's admissions is just going to get harder DX

Lol Peppers, I'm actually trying to raise it to 2150+, mine is nowhere close right now. T_T
But i think i got my 2 killer essays and some pretty good ec's.....

ECs don't count unfortunately. Good luck to you anyways.

Huh? EC's don't count?? I'm' saying I'm hoping my essays and EC's can make up for my bad SAT score

Whoa, my bad. I read that as letters of rec. Sorry to give you a scare ><

How does one get ELC? I didn't get it... I had a 4.5!!

Were you top 4% of your graduating class?

That's how I had gotten it. :x
