Hoping for full-ride merit scholarships. Submit all test scores or only one?

Retaking ACT after getting 35 is not uncommon if one is seeking for the top merit scholarships. I know students did that and I sometimes regret my D did not do it.

Well, for what it’s worth, her gambit paid off and her second try at the ACT yielded a 36 composite. Maybe that will make a difference for her for the most competitive scenarios. We’ll see. Regardless, the discussion here has made us more aware of what to consider in the future with her and our other children and also informed us more about the importance of:

  1. Essays
  2. Interviews
  3. Reasonable expectations
  4. The luck factor
  5. Emotional preparedness re: options and their comparative costs

…and much more. Thanks to all for your input.

Congrats to your daughter on the 36!

Unfortunately you can’t. The AP credits need to be submitted in freshmen year and can only be changed by the end of first semester. In other words, one may drop the useless credits to keep below 55 credits by certain semester.
