Hoping for insight on the Scripps Experience

am thrilled to have recieved the thick envelope from scripps, among great company. have a feeling in my gut that heading to claremont is what will best suit my heart (am from western NY). Also, i have been enchanted by the beauty of the campus, and the warmth of those i've met. however, i have some concerns that keep me tossing nights, and am hoping to learn a little more about the experience.

I am very interested in american studies, english, and political science. i love to write, and i love musical theater. i want to make the world better. i want to make a difference for one person. i'm shy more than i'd like to be. i'm not a partier, but im not snobby about it. i just havent done much letting loose. i'd like to. i take pride in my work, but i dont like competition. i am DESPERATE for CHALLENGING CLASS DISCUSSION (am tired of being the only person who participates thoughtfully). a IB diploma candidate- i've accepted that in theory of knowlesge- there ain't no answer.

I am worried that if i got to scripps, i will to easily retreat into the solitary calm of my room. i want to socialize, but as of yet, all my party entrances have been awkward. will i just seek the safety of the quite scripps dorm or is it easy to branch out?

also, i am not positive that i want to live four years in a single-sex environment. as i've been at the same school for 8 years, all of the guys see me as i was at 10 years old (which was not so attractivei freely admit). therefore i have...well.. zero experience, and no skill at flirting my way to a saturday night date. is it easy to meet guys?

can claremont feel stiffling? i adore santa monica, but know its a good deal off.

i applied to pomona and was waitlisted. i dont want to feel compromised at scripps, even though i might have chosen scripps over P anyway. hoever, several of the things im interested in majoring in are pomona majors? what is the (honest) ease of taking classes at pomona, and to what extent is "pomona elitism" true? (obnoxious question- SORRY)

please share the gritty details, the horror stories, the best classes no one talks about. i am hoping very much to get a better picture of the school

Thanks!

i would send a private message to student 615. look at her posts in the 'anybody got any info' thread. click on her name and then click on send a private message. if you read some of her posts in that thread i think you will conclude she is well informed about scripps and she is very insightful and skilled in communicating about scripps. good luck!
