I have decided to attend UH, start a fresh new GPA and join clubs and be active on some extra activities.

So, take 4 classes at UH full time, and still attend at least 1 or 2 more classes at HCC to be ahead and save some money.

At the same time join clubs such as engineering societies and community service work. That way I can have a good chance at getting into UT School of Cockrell for my Junior year.

Is this a good idea? Or no, I should wipe if off the table?

enigmatix that is pretty much my back up plan if i dont get in, but idk about the extra classes at CC. Or i might switch UH for Tech but i want know for sure til UT gives me a decision.

I think I’m making a good choice. Going to UH for Fall 10-Spring 11. And joining clubs and other extra curricular activities. That way I have a great shot at UT-Austin. I’m taking this path because:

I didn’t do any community service to extra activities in HCC.

UH is a tad cheaper than UT.

I basically live like 5 minutes from UH so I will commute but it wont be a drag.

I do want to leave Houston, but one more year won’t hurt me. And I’ll just go to UT-Austin as a Junior.

I agree with your decision if you need to take certain classes that aren’t offered at a CC. Such as more advanced programing or higher levels of math. If you still need to take your basics, then HCC is the best choice. For one, you can build a high GPA and two, it is cheaper. Frankly, UT doesn’t care at all about EC’s. I transfered here with about a 3.7 and no EC’s or anything really… Like I said earlier, if you are dead set on UT, don’t settle for anything less.

@engimatix or i might just go 2 tech full time, they have a pretty good business school. I might just consider going to UT for graduate work, but idk right now if i get accepted for the fall i will be a longhorn. Im just looking at other options right now
