Hoping to major in Computer Science...but getting mediocre grades in Physics

I’m a high school junior, and I hope to major in Computer Science. I’ve had almost all A’s until now
(except for a B+ in AP Calculus BC last year)

But, it’s almost the end of the semester and finals are in a few days and I currently have a C+ in AP Physics 2. My teacher teaches well but she’s strict and she expects more of us than the AP exam does.

I think she has the policy that if you get a 5 on the exam, you get an A both semesters, but I’m worried that if I don’t get a 5, I’ll be stuck with that sucky grade this semester!!

If I am going into CS, then a C in physics shouldn’t hurt me too bad right? Especially if I improve, and (let’s pray) I get an A next semester? I’m not planning to major in EECS or anything!! Just cs.

I’m just asking, do I have a chance to get into top schools with one C+ in physics and a major in computer science?

Colleges look at your overall GPA and your SAT scores. You should be fine. Don’t stress over getting into an elite school. They’re overrated. If you major in computer science, you’ll find a decent job out of college no matter where you go. I would go for a scholarship.

It is just one grade; it does not affect your GPA much. As long as you do well in your other classes, you will be fine.

You took Calc BC as a sophomore? Yeah, don’t worry about the Physics. You’ll do just fine when it comes time to apply for Comp Sci!

I have a friend who does Comp Sci at UNC Chapel Hill, who was NOTORIOUSLY bad at math. Yes, math. He struggled through Algebra, Precalc, Calc, everything, but something just clicked with the application of math in Comp Sci. If he got into Chapel Hill while being mediocre at math, you’ll get into college while being mediocre at physics (something that isn’t even related to comp sci).
