Hello all,
I am wanting to teach math at the college level and was wondering if I should get a BA in math or a BS in math, or if it even really matters? Eventually I will go to grad school, but for now just trying to finish my undergrad!
Thanks all!
What matters is the course work in math that you take to prepare for PhD study in math. Look up math department web sites for PhD program information on expected preparation, which will typically be similar to that of an undergraduate math major.
The degree title (BA or BS) is not important by itself, though what may matter is what courses are required for each version of the major (i.e. is one of the two a better match for the preparation expected by PhD programs?).
