we all know BME at hopkins is top notch. but how strong are jhu's other engineering areas?

Based on last years USNWR (which isn't a great source, but there's not much else to compare by), JHU ranks 13th overall in undergrad engineering among schools who award doctorates. This puts them tied with Northwestern and U. Wisconsin, just above Penn State, Rensselaer and Texas A&M and just below Cornell, UT-Austin and Princeton.

As for individual majors, Hopkins made top 25 in BME (#1, of course), Comp. E (#19), EE (#24), Environmental Eng. (#6), Materials (#18), MechE (#22).

thanks for the info.

I am personally familiar with JHU's dep of geography & env engineering (affectionately known as "DOGEE")...very eclectic & highly respected group. Its smaller than other high-ranking departments, so I'd think it provides a fairly intimate setting. It would be tops on my list for students wanting to get into Env Eng. Also produces good hires for the env eng consulting business, my field.
