im confused... for the following topic...

Johns Hopkins offers 49 majors across the schools of Arts and Sciences and Engineering. on this supplement, we ask you to identify one or two that you might like to pursue here. Why did you choose the way you did? If you are undecided, why didn't you choose? (If any past courses or academic experiences influenced your decision, you may include them in your essay.)

Is the question asking a major that you would like to puruse specifically at JHU and why or a major you would like to puruse anywhere that offers it and why?

THANKS...

ALSO... i will be writing about biology and bioethics... as i would like to be a doctor... and both will give me great aspects on both parts of medicine, the science and the humanity behind it!

I may not be admissionsdaniel but because of that introductory sentence, I would say write specifically for JHU.

Yes it is JHU specific. It wouldn't make sense for them to ask about your major at another college, would it?

well i was asking cuz my friend was like thought i want to make my essay about biology and bioethics... i should focus it more on being a doctor... but what i was thinking was first sentence of my essay, just put it out that as an aspiring doctor i want to experience both sides of medicine... science and humanity... thereafter i explain what these two sides mean to me to in the future as a doctor and what JHU can do for me and why i want to take advtange of that opportunity...

BASICALLY im NOT going to state WHY i want to become a doctor... but rather what i want to major and minor in to get tehre... sound fair?

yeah sounds like a good idea

Part of answering our essay questions is how one interprets the essay prompts. You can answer the question in any way you choose. We like to leave the essay questions a bit vague and open-ended to allow applicants to take their answers in a number of different directions. That also leads to a variety of answers for the Admissions committee to review.
