Trying to figure this one out.
Got into many schools but always was most interested in Brown and Hopkins.
May 1 coming up soon - need input!
I'm interested in international relations. I'm definitely not a science/math type and not a pre-med etc etc.
Hopkins seems known as a grind with unhappy students who score their profs low. Got a different impression when i was there and SAIS is amazing.
Interested in any/all points of view....

Assuming money is a factor, just go with your gut instincts. There are no “facts” that will tell you the “right” choice. Both schools are good, do what feels right.

Hopkins student here… Seriously, if you can’t take the grind… better get out now or your life will be miserable That’s the premed side of things… my IR roommate is stressed out with papers, interviews, and course scheduling stuff. He is having a lot easier time than us premeds… I mean, you can have a great awesome time at Brown… but then you will be missing out on the IR experience at JHU… So it’s a give or take… Both are great schools… but Hopkins SAIS is probably the best IR graduate school out there … the 5 year BA/MS program is highly competitive though!!!..

thanks.
sounds like Hopkins is still a grim place for grinders - or am I misreading your post?
no question SAIS is awesome.

Grinders are mostly premed… Folks that I’ve talk to that have quit premed have actually became more happier and have enjoyed Hopkins a lot more because they party out more often rather than worry about studying for the next midterm or their grades…

Students here are just very competitive and they want to become successful in life… IR is a totally different field… The students I know that are IR work very hard to do well in school, but also have the free time to enjoy life as well… lol
