I have been accepted to both Santa Clara and Johns Hopkins and am deciding between the two. I know that in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I want to live, SCU has great networking, however, I know that Hopkins is considered to be more "prestigious." Would it be a crime to pass on Hopkins?

I can’t say I know about SCU, but I always say go with your gut. If you really liked the feel of SCU and would only consider hopkins because of name then go with SCU. You’re gonna be there for four years, don’t pick just because of prestige.

I won’t call it a crime, but definitely it is unwise.

There are many reasons to choose a college, or to not choose a college. Prestige is only one. Go with your gut.

if you have to even ask…

You should go to the school you like the best and not decide on prestige. I’m a Hopkins student and really like it here, but you shouldn’t come here just because of the name.

I don’t know why you would spend money to go to SCU. I’d rather use the money to go to a prestigious university such as John Hopkins.

the best investment would be a visit to JHU. good luck

Think about the value you get out of the university. Consider all your options still. What is your major?
