Hi, I'm currently a junior, will be a senior this year. As you can probably tell, I'm Indian, but my grades certainly are far from the average. I totally screwed up in school, and I was wondering where am I headed. Much of the things that determine my future have not even been done yet; so please make assumptions based on the fact that I most likely will do these things. Here are my somewhat mediocre stats:
*GPA/EC'S/Advanced Classes
-Freshman year- 2.46 GPA/No EC's/No advanced classes
-Sophomore year- 3.54 GPA/No Ec's/No advanced classes
-Junior year- 3.75 GPA/JV Tennis/Honors Alg II
-Senior year (What I expect) - 4.66 GPA/Varsity Tennis/Precalculus, AP Chem
AP Bio, AP Lit - Expecting all A's
-Cumulative- Weighted, 3.35, w/o my last semester senior year.
*Test Scores
-Sat I- So far, 1900, expecting 2150
-ACT- So far, 26, expecting 30
*Misc.
-Will have good recs
-Will have a good enough essay

*With the above resume, can I expect to see myself in a decent college? I plan on majoring in chemical engineering, and I live in St. Louis, Missouri. I don't know much about the colleges I want to get into, but I've been closely considering the following:
-University of Chicago
-Ohio State University
-Pennsylvania State University
-Washington University
-Purdue University
*I would really, truly appreciate any help here, as I have no idea where I'm headed, or what my future is. Thanks in advance

a guidance counselor could help you better with that. most people here would gasp! at a 3.35 weighted.

Alright.. the reason I posted in the "What are my chances" thread was to find out what my chances were..

University of Chicago-Reach
Ohio State- Match
Penn State- Reach
WashU-Reach

You have had a rising trend in grades so that's good. Strong test scores coupled with a decent gpa and rising trend makes a better applicant but not the best. I would venture to guess that Ohio and Purdue would be the school you def get into. But the others have the same degree of difficulty althought Purdue may be a little tougher to get into. If you keep the rising trend and have better test scores I'd say you have a good shot of getting in to a couple of those schools. Good luck, God bless, and all that.

Not to be offensive, but are you Native American or Asian Indian? If you're Native American, that will give you a boost, as will your upward trend of gpa, ECs & courseload. You should get into Ohio State, Penn State, maybe Purdue. Wash U & UChicago are reaches, and they are tough schools. Honestly, I think that if you work very hard in your classes & ECs this year, prepare for SAT/ACT, you will be fine. Good luck!

I'd also like to note, that I know someone with grade trends just like yours, and she ended up getting in Washu. So keep up the grade trend, and study for that SAT, and you have a shot.
