Guys, I used the US postal service to send my transcripts using first class mail but its been 10 days and they still haven't been delivered. I live in northern cal and sent to UCSD. My friend who works in the post office says the large envelope processing machine in Oakland isn't hooked up to the central system and thus there is no record of the mail in her system. When I called the USPS customer service, they also have no clue where it went.

I am now going to resend and choose either UPS or Fedex. Any have any recommendations?

Hrm. Yeah, should have been there by now. Should only take 2-3 days, but there is, sadly, no guarantee listed on the website. How curious, though. I’ve never had an issue with USPS in state before. I generally avoid the other two unless I have no choice. Your best bet is to compare the services for what meets your needs. Here’s a rough idea if you mailed first thing tomorrow before the close of the day (I used my zip in Santa Cruz to UCSD):

Delivery by - Name of service - Price
Wed Jul 14, 2010 4:30 PM - FedEx 2Day - $14.90

Wed Jul 14, 2010 (by end of work day) - UPS 2nd Day Air - $14.53

Note that this was a rough guess of what it would cost to send an envelope from where I am using rough guesses on weight, envelope size, etc. You would need to plug in your own details to determine what would be the final cost for you. My experience with both has been neutral so I have no leanings either way. FedEx is how I’ve received a lot of my envelope packages from UCSC, though, if that helps at all to know.

Submit official transcripts from your high school and from all colleges and universities you have attended through spring 2010. Failure to report all schools attended or failure to include original grades and repeated grades may cause your admission to be cancelled.** If all required transcripts are not received by the deadline, a registration “hold” will be placed on your records. If left unresolved, this will lead to enrollment cancellation from any courses for which you registered during open enrollment.**

i brought mine in person, but of course that is more difficult if you have to travel across the state and probably not possible. I empathize with your plight.

this is the beauty of living within running distance of the university… bit of a long run, but 7 miles is doable, if I were in better shape(and enjoyed running which i do not), I’d probably be trying to do a run that distance once a week. I’m actually looking to get more into cross running and shall probably invest myself more into it more this upcoming year.
