Horrible GPA = Chances to CAS ED?

Hi.
SAT - 2000
GPA - 3.1
ECs: (only important ones) President of a club, Treasurer of a club (both small clubs), Student newspaper

Im very serious..

not bad-- you definitely have a chance
sats are ok, gpa is a bit low
but remember- its the whole package, not just your gpa
ed?? u mean rd?

Not applying yet -- just as my status right now :]
no, I mean ED -- thanks so much , I was so scared CAS is totally out of my league. Everywhere I want to apply to requires such a high GPA..

what would help me get into CAS? I cant really fix the GPA from a 3.1 to like a 3.7.. I can do as much as I can but still :(

I was accepted with a lower GPA than that. My SAT score was a 2070, though.

If you still have time to raise your GPA and maybe try to score a little higher on the SAT, you've probably got a pretty good chance.

I'm not attempting to be cynical, just honest, really. I applied early decision to CAS with a higher GPA (3.8 UW, 4.2 W), a slightly higher SAT score (2050), and three strong leadership activities. I was accepted, but I thought I was treading on excessively thin ice; however, perhaps I'm incorrect about prospective RD students' GPAs/SATs, I don't know. Also, your essays and rec letters could potentially bolster your chances.

You probably should've applied early decision, but perhaps you'll be GSP'd. Either way, I'm sure you'll find a college that's right for you. (In other words, good luck.)

no chance sorry, ill be surprised if you get gsp.

So.. its even.. some people are saying no chance and some people are saying kind of a chance? Percentage wise please? :(

Just apply. Very few people here, I've learned, have a clue what their talking about. Besides, perhaps you may have something else in your application that will make you stand out, like agreat essay, a great recommendation, or great EC's. Don't let a few comments from people as clueless as you discourage you. Good luck.

^ Are you sure about that? It feels like CC people in general have searched every single thing about college and know what it takes to get into whatever university/college they want to go to..

Thank you for the advice though :)

CC people know alot.
but CC people aren't the NYU admissions people reading your application.

Good luck!

Thank you
Chances.. anyone??

i think you have a good shot... but what about me?? no one lookin at my thread

I'll go check yours :)

reach............

dont sugar coat it, he does not have a good chance.
He is below the average SAT score, and VERY below the average gpa..with below par EC's

my friend last year had a 1510(~2260 when you include writting) and a 3.1 gpa and AWESOME EC's....and he only got GSP.

thanks for being honest ^ :)

Chances are slim but all you've got to lose by applying is the app fee.

i think u have a pretty good chance

you have a chance go for it
