I posted this about a week ago, and I haven’t received any replies. Anyway, I’ve always struggled with math standardized tests. The lowest grade I have gotten in math in high school is a B-. On the ACT, I got a 28C.
Breakdown:
C- 28
E- 34
M- 20 (I literally cried when I saw it. It’s SO bad. I understood the math, I just need time to think about the concept and how to solve the problem. I ran out of time a little over half-way through, so, according to the score chart, I most likely got all of the questions I answered right)
R- 33
S- 26
Essay- 10
I was wondering if the disgustingly low math score would affect college admissions? I want to major in English, and the English, Reading, and Essay scores show that I could definitely do well in an English major.
So, will the math score affect college admission?
Thanks!
As far as I know, colleges mostly look at the overall composite score. I know certain colleges have a minimum score per section though, so maybe look at that just in case. Why not take the ACT again, unless you don’t have time. If the colleges you are looking at super-score, taking it again could be especially helpful, and you could spend all your time studying just for the math section. I know every time I took the ACT my math score improved every time. Whereas my reading and english scores fluctuated. Overall I was able to get a 29, with a 25 in math. My first math score was a 23 I believe.
