Horrible Math SAT II score....what to do?

I took the December SAT II for math level II and I felt pretty good about it. I omitted about 8-9 but the ones I answered I was almost 100% certain about. Also, my friend(possibly class val), who got a "C" in Precalc(hardest class in the school), scored in the high 700s. I got an "A-" in that class, which, not to sound cocky or anything, is pretty rare, and I have an "A" in AP Calculus right now, in a very rigorous and difficult calc class(even students with Cs and Ds score 4s on exam) so I thought I was pretty prepared for the test.

But I got a 640! That's only at 33rd percentile, and I'm majoring in math! Makes me want to cry, I don't know what to do at this point. I was sure I had AT LEAST 700, I don't know what went wrong.

Should I reconsider my major? Since I listed that I planned to take the test on my UC app, do I have to send the score? Can I still retake it in January?

Thanks for the help!

I had the same problem in October. I usually get great grades in Math but I messed up my Math 2 Test and got a 640. Then I took it again in December and got a 760. Don’t reconsider your major because of a single test. Just don’t send your score as SAT 2s are not required for UCs.

Am I obligated to send it to UCs since I listed that I planned to take it on my application?

Yes, if you indicated you planned to take the test then they will be expecting it to be submitted when available. Failure to submit all scores could screw up some decisions come March.

bummer. sounds like you didn’t manage your time well if you left 8-9 blank. Take some more timed practice tests if you want to retake the exam.

@SvFalcons74‌ Well that sucks, hopefully if I get a supplemental review they’ll consider my January score(assuming it isn’t as bad).

@mnm111‌ I looked at all the past curves and saw that 8-9 blank would give me at least a 750, and since I felt confident about all the rest, I didn’t want to risk answering those other 8-9 incorrectly(they were mostly stats problems, haven’t taken stats). But I got a book with a lot of practice tests so hopefully that will help.
