I am a high school senior. Alright, I took the October 3, 2015 SAT yesterday. I think I did absolutely horrible.
This is the second time I’m taking it. The first time I took it was on June 6, 2015, which was the SAT that got messed up. I’m 100% positive that my October score will be MUCH lower than my June score.
My proctor gave little to no sh** about us, and even told us that he was watching an Angel’s game, so immediately I knew that this guy isn’t taking this crap seriously.
First of all, the guy never gave us a 10-minute mark or a 5-minute mark for ANY of the sections. I depend on those marks to keep track of my progress throughout! After the second section, he stopped telling us when a section would end and just expected us to know when to move on.
Like for Sections 3-4, the only time he’d speak to tell us to stop was when section 4 would end, since it would be our restroom break. He didn’t go “Alright guys, section 3 is over, move on to section 4.” Again, he didn’t even give us a 10 or 5 minute mark for any section. The times he wrote on the board were the times for our next restroom break, and it got confusing as to how to manage my time throughout the sections.
Another example. After section 7, he gave us a break, and when we all came back to the classroom, he just told us he’ll let us do sections 8-10 however we wanted to. Let me repeat that, when we came back from our restroom break after section 7, he just told us he’ll leave us alone to knock out the rest of the sections until the SAT ended at 1:05. And again, the time he wrote on the board was the time that the whole thing would end, which was 1:05. I got really frustrated because I expect these proctors to monitor our time and tell us when to move on to the next section, but he just left us alone to figure it out.
This dude did not care. I was working on a math section in either 8 or 9 and I was in the middle of a difficult problem when the proctor loudly goes “Yes!”. He apologized and told us that the Angels just took the lead. I find that sh*t unprofessional and frustrating as hell, because I’m already having a hard time keeping track of time which he’s suppose to help us with, and here he goes distracting us.
I wasn’t expecting this kind of incompetence from an SAT proctor. I kept losing track of time and when a section ended or when I should be moving on to the next section. I do, however, remember omitting A LOT of answers, which is why I think I did REALLY bad. Bad to the point of wanting to cancel my test scores.
When I got to section 10, I was only able to answer around 3 questions. THREE QUESTIONS ANSWERED FOR SECTION 10!!
Alright, I have a ton of questions, so please bear with me.
- Should I cancel my SAT score? I know I did horribly. But I plan on taking it again on December at another high school that has much stricter, but overall better proctors. I intend on raising that score on December. So if in June I got a 1620, October I get a horrible AF score, and December I do much, much better, how will colleges see it?
- How will colleges see this? If I cancel, will they see my score anyway? It says on the college board site that it won't be sent to institutions, but some threads here say that colleges will see it anyway.
- And if I cancel my score, must they receive my letter of cancelation by Wednesday? Or must I have sent my mail by Wednesday?
Please help!! I only have until Wednesday to cancel my score.
