Okay, recently I took my first official Collegeboard practice test at home and had no problem whatsoever with concentration I ended up scoring an 1810, which isn’t too bad CR:620, M:610, W:580 (8 essay) and on my second test about 3 days later I scored an 1890 CR:600, M:690, W:600 (8 essay), but when I took the test in an actual testing environment about a week I scored a 1610–a 1610!! CR:540. M:550 W:520 (with a 5 essay). That’s over a 200 point decrease, I was soo nervous taking this test–I couldnt fully concentrate on even ONE section – and I was constantly thinking about how the other students around me were doing. I am so dissappointed in myself and this horrible score and my goal is a 2200+ --how can that be possible with such terrible test anxiety?!?
Keep taking timed (practice) tests around other students. Sign up for free tests with various test prep companies: Princeton Review, Kaplan, Private Prep, A List, or whatever other companies are near you. Eventually you’ll get used to testing with strangers.
First off, identify your problem. You don’t have test anxiety at all. You perform well on the test; it’s just you didn’t do well in the test environment. So, get used to the environment. PRACTICE.
Simple.
I took another practice test in the testing environment that I’ve gone to for about 3 weeks now and scored a 2050 - CR: 640, W:760 (11 essay) and M: 650. Getting used to the testing environment and practice definitely helped. Thanks guys! (:
Did you practice in the first place???
Lol, yes, but it wasn’t as rigorous compared to what I’m doing now.
