Horrible start to college and low GPA, will I be able to transfer?

Will I be able to transfer out of the community college I am currently attending? I have really bad grades from the first 4 semesters of college. Currently feeling completely hopeless.

I was not a great high school student either. During high school I developed anxiety and a manic depression disorder. I struggled to go to school and was eventually placed in special education. During that time I had a whole year of school work to catch up on and my grades took a toll. I graduated highchool as a special education student with the minimum requirements, not a GED. After graduating high school in 2012, I enrolled in community college.

2 weeks before my first semester of college, I was a victim of sexual assault. I tried to tough it out and continue my education because I did not want my anxiety/depression to get in the way of my education any longer. However, I fell into deep depression and anxiety, to the point where I stopped attending classes and received an F. Some professors dropped me on their own and I received a W. Below are my stats from my first semester of college until now. My current GPA is at a 2.3.

My question for anyone that has been in a similar situation or has any knowledge in this topic is if I can still transfer out to a decent university? Or have I completely blown my chances of transferring out to a decent university? My major is in Biology and I would like to attend University of Texas at Austin, or Texas A&M. Also, I have no extra curricular activities other than my job. My job was what made me decide that Biology is what I truly wanted to pursue as a career. I currently work at a laboratory as an admin… Any help or personal success stories are much appreciated!

I have 10 more classes to take before being able to graduate with an associates in science degree.

First, I’m very sorry to hear that you sexually assaulted.

I would suggest looking into your school’s health services, to see if you have access to a counselor or therapy.

You have an upward trend in your grades, so that’s a positive aspect, and those reviewing your application will note this.

Have you looked into academic renewal or similar policies at your school? That, and along with retaking English 1302 would help your GPA.

If you haven’t done so already, speak to an academic counselor or advisor at your school, they likely will be able to give you the best advice.

Don’t give up hope of transferring. As your GPA continues to improve, so do your chances of transferring. Good luck!
