Ok well I am definitely retaking these tests, however, how important are the subject tests in admission?

Literature: 530
US History: 580

I took the SAT I a couple months ago and I got a 2010, if I retake the SAT and get a higher score could that make up for my subject test scores? And I considering to applying to most of the top tiers of the UCs, along with USC and CMC.

Check how your SAT scores match with the others at your schools and see if they even require SAT II’s…most schools don’t even need them

No they need them because I live in Cali and I am applying for many of the UCs along with USC, and maybe CMC.

Ultimately, how much do Subject tests weigh in on the admission cycle? Can subject tests make or break your application?

I don’t think that Subject Tests can really make or break your application. If every other facet of your Application was off the charts, a couple of 600 Sat IIs wouldn’t make adcoms turn the other way, but in your case I would definately advise that you retake them. I obviously don’t know how strong your Class Rank and Extracurriculars are, but your SAT Reasoning score is not high enough to really offset low Subject Scores.

Remember that the Subject Tests were put into place to test actual knowledge that you have learned throughout highschool, which the SAT I doesn’t really do. You need to show Colleges that you are well rounded and have paid attention in class. One thing that might help is great grades in the corresponding highschool AP class or a good AP score.

Alright well what is a decent SAT II score that won’t hurt me or help me, because after those scores I am really going to study. Ultimately, what is an average SAT II score that most top UCs will accept, such as UCB, UCSD, and UCLA? Thanks.
