So what do you think? I'm hoping these colleges will focus on my math/science potential rather than look too far into my ridiculously low verbal scores, then again I'm just hoping... thanks for you help!

Uh... well the 500's are a bit too low for the colleges on your list.

I hate to be pessimistic, but Columbia and Upenn are hard to get into for anyone, especially if you have scores outside of the range. Cornell tends to be a bit more lenient, but it is by no means easy to get into. Nonetheless, at all the schools on your list, you're going to need at least a 1400 M+V to have a remote chance. Again, sorry to be negative, but that's just reality. You should try taking the SAT again or perhaps retake the ACT. Consider submitting only your ACT to whatever colleges you can (although columbia requires SAT II's, and all your SAT scores are sent, including SAT I's). Hope this helps. Try getting a review book for the sat.

Id have to agree with the previous posters

I think the previous posters over-emphasize the importance of the SATs relative to GPA and difficulty of course load. A 3.9uw taking lots of APs is a great GPA, and I'm sure it will carry a lot of weight. Apply to the schools you listed, but it is also true you need to add some match/safeties to round out the list.

If you can raise your CR score, then you have a good shot at ANY school in the country. It's extremely important in your case to raise that score to at least 650.

Columbia SEAS - 40%
Cornell - 50%
Harvey Mudd - 55% (chances are good here because they are more forgiving on scores, place more emphasis on math/science, and crave girls)
Carnagie Melon - 70%
JHU - 70% (assuming not biomedical)
Upenn - 40%

yeah, hmc will be slightly higher since you are an AM girl.

Thanks everyone for your honesty. Just to clear something up though, the listed colleges are all of my reach schools that I will have to narrow down, & I will definitely add safty/match schools to my application list. I'll be hitting the books these next two months and hopefully bring up my CR score.

A tech college will look past your CR score. You have a fair shot at these schools.

are you guys forgetting the fact that she's black?

yea I think your race will help you alot, btw are you imigrant? good luck

why not try the ucs

no i'm not an immigrant but my parents are, and yes i'm definitely looking into a few of the ucs.
