I'm having such a horrible week! I had a chemistry quiz yesterday on gas laws and I think I failed it! I got two questions completely wrong (out of 13) and I'm not sure if I even did the other questions right! There were only a couple questions that I was certain was right. Everyone else thought they did badly and he normally scales the tests so the average is in the mid to lower 80s... still...

And I just got my math test back (calc AB) and I got a 86! This is the lowest test I've ever gotten ever (my semester grade was 96!). I am so ****ed! We do get test corrections so we can regain 1/2 of what we lost, but I'm still very upset.

And on Monday, I got a huckleberry finn one page essay back and I got a 16/20!

Do you think I should worry so much about this? I am most concerned with my chemistry, since my semester grade was a very low A- and I want to keep it like that or higher....

My classes Calc BC midterm average was a 59. The "teacher" didn't curve them.

You got a B in a very hard math course on one test, a B- on an english essay, and probably a B or C on a chemistry quiz. If you really think that that is terrible you have a lot ahead of you. If you failed/D'd 2 or 3 things, I could understand.

yeah, but this week is so much worse than last week when I got all As on my report card, got my eagle scout project approved, and got into all-state orchestra! I can't afford to get Bs third term!

What is the point of posting how horrible your week is when it can hardly be considered "horrible"? CLEARLY looking for some sort of compliment...

Wow, at least you didn't starve or get shot or get tortured or get raped or get burglarized or get assaulted or have your house burn down or have your pets die or have your family get sick or you get sick or die or you get hurt or you get some type of serious injury or you have a family issue or your parents get divorced or your bank account looted or your family sued or your parents fired...

I know it seems like a horrible week right now. Try to put it into perspective. Are you healthy? Is your family healthy? Was the test hard or did you not study? Everybody has an off patch-you can't expect to be perfect ALL the time. And getting a 93 on a calc test isn't "horrible". if that's the worst thing that happens, then you're very blessed.

dude, guys, it's probably a big blow to this kid, but it's a great lesson to be learned. you won't always win, and once you realize that, you can make better decisions.

Okay, take a deep breath. I remember being obsessed with grades, and it put me through much more stress than necessary. Try to put things in perspective.

1) An 86 on an AP Calculus test is perfectly fine, and it's hardly grade-destroying. If your semester average was so high, then even if this grade did negatively impact your grade, your first two terms would still prop your grade up. Plus, you're going to have many more tests. So, really, an 86 is negligible.

2) Look at how many points the one-page essay was worth, total. Only 20 points. You're probably going to have many more assignments in your English class, so not doing well on one 20-point assignment certainly isn't going to kill you.

3) There's nothing you can do about the chemistry, and you haven't even gotten your quiz back yet. And it's only a quiz. Chill.

And even if all these "bad" scores do somehow manage to have a huge impact on your grade, it'll only be for this term. I can understand how your chem grade might worry you; I was in a similar situation in physics last year, and I desperately wanted an A- so that I wouldn't have to take the final. Things worked out just fine. Even though I did very poorly on one test, I did very well on other assignments. Similarly, I'm sure that things will work out for you.

Relax, take a deep breath. Things really aren't as bad as they seem. So this wasn't a good week grade-wise. But those are just a couple of grades.

omg shut up...dude i just got my BC calc test back and got a 63%

life is tough when you take tough classes...doesnt matter at all though if you tried

last year in AP Chem i would maybe get an 85 on the test...but id work my butt off and regain the A through quizzes, tests, and lab reports.

AP Euro i went from a 99.1% 1st quarter to having a 90% nearing the end of 2nd quarter (need a 92 for an A) so i worked very hard and got the A in the end

there are of course examples of when trying harder doesnt work, but im sure youll be fine

That looks like a great week...to me at least.

Last week I got a 60% on a stoichiometry test in chem, and a 52% on a quiz in precalc. Oh, and this week I have to turn in 3 projects for Chem. I hate that class; it is the bane of my existence.

Dude, shut up. I mean, man, I get straight As and everything too, but man, Shut up and stop whining. Just pull up the grades next time. I mean, 86? You gay. How can you have a 96 average last semester when the teacher gives you back 1/2 a point back for every correction? I had a teacher like that in 9th grade and I got Bs and Cs on her tests and still ended up with a 96%. stop exaggerating and start working.

You might feel a little better if you turned a little energy towards other people this week. Wednesday is Valentine's Day. How about a card for your parents? What about some cookies for a friend?

You can make other people happy. That may make you happier along the way.
