Art history major is prob. not impacted at all… you’ll have an easy shot at getting into the program, but you have to get into the university first. I think you have some chance :)

Not much of a chance. I go to UW-Madison but got into UCSB last year out of state with a 1950 sat, 29 act, 4.0 UC GPA, 3.76 GPA. I’ve met a kid here (Madison) who got denied from UCSB with the exact same stats as me and he got denied outright, and he was in-state.

I would go ahead and apply if I were you. It’s true that your GPA is not as high as most students applying to UCSB, but I actually do know someone with your exact GPA who was accepted two years ago. It’s not a total lost cause.

don’t knock the art history department. especially those attempting to go into an architecture emphasis! those classes are tough, tough, tough. construction is no joke. if you don’t get in- apply as a junior after taking all you can in art history at a community college. also, pretty sure UCSB doesn’t read the essays… or is that just for transfer students?

You do realize that collegeconfidential isn’t the admissions right? You could get a thousand people to come on here and say you are a shoe-in and it wouldn’t matter. Applying is the only way to find out if you’ll get in or not so just wait and see ;)
