I'm really just venting right now.

We have new guidance counselors this year (although they have experience at other schools). I've talked to mine and she knows I'm applying to schools in the states (I live in Canada) and has urged me to apply for major external scholarships for Canadian schools. So I've done that, but when I asked about major entrance scholarships to schools she told me not to worry about them until February.

The three counselors did presentations for our class and told us explicitly not to worry about specific schools until February because looking at them now would only be stressful and none of the deadlines would be soon anyway.

I've been preoccupied with early admissions and getting my US applications done, so I took their word for it. MISTAKE. I was checking the site for one of my top choices in Canada should the US not work out and their major scholarships deadline was yesterday. It was entirely by chance that I checked today. They have a $60,000 entrance award for an Atlantic Canadian student studying commerce. Go figure, that's me.

I don't know what to do. I'll call their admissions office tomorrow and see if there's anyyyy way for them to bend the rules. It's ultimately my fault and my own stupidity for not checking, but I feel so misguided right now.

Anyone have something similar?
