I am pretty interested in the hospitality field and know of some good hotelie schools (Cornell, BU) and was wondering if:
Anyone majoring in this right now or knows a lot about this could just let me know what kind of major this is
The workload/classes for this
Things to do in high school to prepare for this field
Any regrets in majoring in this field or how much they love it
What its like after college (types of jobs, etc)

I am a wine director in a major resort Las Vegas, and have been in the business since I was 16. I attended SUNY Albany (BA in Political Science 03) and now go to UNLV for my MBA. I strongly suggest working in the field before committing to Hospitality. I would advise in majoring in Business… you can always do hospitality management with Business Admin., but you can only do Hospitality with Hospitality Admin.
If truly committed, I have to say a strong knowledge of wine is paramount to getting ahead in this field.
Hotel managers start at 25k - 50k (5 years: 65k)
Restaurant managers start at 35k - 55k (5 years: 75k)
Wine/Beverage (or F & B) managers start at 50k - 75k (well over 100k with time; my boss make 250k with a sommelier certification and 15 years experience)
