Hot schools

Besides the obvious, Ivies, what would be considered a "Hot School"?

i think northeasterns applications skyrocketed this year- i know someone who got rejected from northeastern but got into cornell.

every school applications skyrocketed this year.

Penn is really hot right now, compared to other Ivies.

Hot Schools:
On the rise academically or a v. large increase in applicants and interest

Indiana, North Carolina, Emory, Northeastern, Miami (Ohio), Colorado (Boulder), Virginia, Wisconsin, Texas, Wash U

All Ivy's are hot. I think all of them h ad a record number of applicants (exaggeration probably but partially true)

Indiana, BU, Temple, UPitt, UWisc, UConn, UMass.

all the top (15-20) LAC's experienced a major app boost this year.

Some of Northeastern's admissions stats for this year:

Number of EA Applicants: 6500 (first year of EA)
Total Number of Applicants: 27,100 (new record) (compare this to four years ago when NEU only received about 15,000 total apps)
Acceptance Rate: 44%

Northeastern has the potential to get up to 30,000 apps next year (it's becoming more nationally known).

Holy Cross is another really hot school.

Duke, UVA, North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Emory, Northwestern, Miami in Ohio, and Washington U in St. Louis

Miami was so hot they failed to meet their enrollment target last year. One of the few publics with declining enrollment.

"Miami was so hot they failed to meet their enrollment target last year. One of the few publics with declining enrollment."

Last year, they their largest increases in Applications ever. And yes, the enrollment was down, but probably because the student body was very qualified and chose elsewhere.

This year, the are looking at a record class with confirmations so far. Really far ahead of last year

Hot schools for top students: Ivies, Stanford, Duke, NU, Georgetown, UVA, UNC

what about Tufts?

Does anyone think Tufts is "hot"

it's good, but not "hot"

UCLA received more applicants than any other college, over 47,000.

interesting about northwestern... but aren't a lot of the other schools being named already popular?

definitely duke and brown
wesleyan
