<p>Woohoo! Right now Hotchkiss is my first choice!! I can’t wait for revisits…I’m bursting with excitement. You have no idea how much I was shaking right when I clicked the mouse to get my decision…I almost cried for fear of my first rejection or third waitlist. (Yeah I get wayyy over emotional when it comes to sentimental things like this.)</p>

<p>i think i am for sure going, but i’m still waiting on deerfield. idk. hotchkiss is an incredible school, and probably still my priority. im just worried that i will go and then like fail out haha. wow i sound way insecure saying that, its just that it’s still hard to believe i was accepted.</p>
<p>Grammar is quite gleeful for herself and all y’all! I’m 99% sure I’m going, seeing as I liked it better than both of the 2 I’m still waiting on.</p>
<p>Hi guys, I was just wondering if any of you accepted people could post your statistics. I got waitlisted but cannot exactly figure out why. Not that I think I am perfect but it seemed that Hotchkiss was a perfect match for me. I was really sad to learn about my decision because my current boarding prep school is closing due to the economic situation and now I don’t have a place to go.</p>
<p>I’ll post mine. </p>
<p>SSAT: high 90s </p>
<p>Grades: Mostly 7’s (IB - Equivalent of A+s)</p>
<p>ECAs: school president, secreary general at MUN, newspaper writer, community service at a local hospital, varsity cricket among other things. </p>
<p>Acceptance to Hotchkiss really is very difficult. I empathize with you and wish you better luck next year ! I hope you find a home somewhere or even better come off the wait list !</p>
<p>Kafkareborn: Thank you for your help. I have almost the same statistics except lower SSAT because I am an international student and did not do very well in the verbal part. However, my TOEFL score was college-level so that should be alright.
Anyway, do you think there is a chance to get off the wait list? I feel sort of confused because it seems that so many people are wait listed from Hotchkiss - more than got rejected. Is there anything I can really do to higher my chances for acceptance?
By the way is your screen name refers to Franz Kafka, he is my favorite author.</p>

<p>I’m so excited for revisit day! I got into Hotchkiss along with Milton and was waitlisted at SPS but thats ok because Hotchkiss and Milton were my first choices. I have so many questions!
1- I know the dress code but what do most girls wear?
2- Is it cliquey(Spelling)?
3-Are the dorm rooms nice? What is the nicest girls dorm?
4- How many hours of homework do you get as a 9th grader?
5- Are most kids friendly?

<p>hi kafkareborn!!! I’m coming to hotchkiss next year!!! and i am so pumped its crazy!!! i started crying when i found out. it was my first choice. so now i have 6 months to go and i can barely wait 
yaaaaayyyyy.</p>
<p>Wow haha last year I also got into Milton ! I loved it really but Hotchkiss just totally clicked and that was that.</p>

<li><p>The dress code is practically non-existant for girls … They say they are clampiong down on it but they have said that for ages and nothing ever changes so grils basically wear whatever. But most just year skirts and tops. Guys wear shirt and tie or shirt and jacket. I ussualy opt for the second option. :)</p></li>
<li><p>No it is not cliquey at all. Since it is a medium sized school you make friends with just about everyone and it feelsmore like a family in blue than anything else. You will have a diverse group of friends. I have friends in every gradefrom both sexes from every continent on earth. xewpt antartica - though i am friends witha few peoplewho went there ! </p></li>
<li><p>GARLAND IS AWESOME !! We call it “The Hotel” so that dorm is just sick but it is for girls. Flinn is also AWESOME and spanking new. But it is also for girls. Edelman is for guys and it is awesome! Coy (where I am at - we call our selves the Coy Boys or the Gentlemen of Coy - is REALLY nice because of the people and average because of the dorm itself. most of the dorms are good EXCEPT Dana. Let’s just say it is the slytherin of Hotchkis ot The Dungeouns as it is known. But its for guys so you are safe. Its not terrible but i dont like it. </p></li>
<li><p>I have never been a 9th grader here but as 11th grader (an upper mid) I get 3-4-5 depends if I have been procrastinating or not … or if I havea debate meet or something comming up and i want to get work done in advance. </p></li>

<p>5.YES YES AND YES. I have not made a single enemy at Hotchkiss and I can honestlytell you I do not know of two people at hotchkiss who hate eachother. Everyone is VERy friendly and everyone gets along just fine. That was the main reason I wanted to come here because I wanted to be part of a family away from family. </p>

<p>Hotchkiss’ bear cat is not like that though, lol its basically a lion’s body with a semi bear semi tiger head. lol it looks something like princeton’s tiger. You will see the statue outside Mars Athletic Center (The MAC). </p>

<p>Kafkareborn–I appreciate all of the good rah-rah hotchkiss info you’re giving my daughter (pomegranate) but I do take exception to the “Daft Taft” instructions. I went to Taft and my daughter has agreed that if she goes to Hotchkiss, she will not engage in any dissing of the Rhinos!!!</p>
