Hotchkiss next year!

Hotchkiss grad here - seems hkissgurlz is doing a good job of answering most questions but I’m here too if you guys have any more!

@bflynn95 on move in day what do you suggest we do first to minimize wait time. Do you suggest we move in and get unpacked first then do everything else or get our mailboxes, computers, etc then unpack?

My sister advised me to go to Hotchkiss as early as possible if you have a roommate. That way, you get to pick which side of the room you want. The campus is beautiful, and I hope the class of 2017 has a great time!!

Thanks wavy boy! I would rush to the room to pick a bed, but my roommate is going to preseason the day before so I get there last :(

I’m applying for the 2014-2015 school year. I am currently in eighth grade. Hotchkiss is the only school I am applying to… I looked at many but none of them have such a well rounded balance as Hotchkiss. I already had my interview/tour and I only became more interested in the school… what are my chances of getting in? I am an A student except for math, but my math teacher does like me because I participate very much and work hard. I went to CTY for two years for writing, I have been published 2x on Disney’s website (For poetry), I attended the Montclair State University Gifted and Talented Writing Program, and I write for my school’s literary magazine. I also play first singles on my school’s tennis team. We play against other schools in our league and I’m undefeated. In addition I do a lot of charity work. I do soup kitchens and I volunteer at my local library (which is more of community service,) but my main charity work has been with India. In 7th grade, we did a project in which we ended up raising $150 to provide 10 child laborers with an education. I became really inspired so I joined my school’s Pratham club, which helps less fortunate children in India. Now I’ll have the opportunity to actually go to india this December for two weeks and do volunteer work first hand. I have not taken the SSAT yet… but as it stands now, what are my chances?
