I am taking SSAT this weekend...

EC: Volunteering (At local church, Humaine Society), Piano (7 yrs)

Sports: Skiing ( im a pro ), Tennis, Volley Ball ( varsity ), Track.

ALSO!!! My brother goes to Hotch kiss and he is getting A's and i think that will help:) afterall highschool is about improving right?

please be honest. and not harsh.
I live in CO.

Well, to be truthful, don’t take too much stock in this, as I generally don’t trust the Chance Me threads because it’s a very imprecise, flukey admissions game…

Anyway, it’s good that you’re from Colorado, as small schools like Hotchkiss love diversity and people from different states. This is a definite plus in your favor.

However, the grades aren’t very good, although maybe the Hotchkiss admissions officers will see how much you improved? Try to bring them up to straight A’s. Could you also include what classes you take (like AP, honors, blah blah blah)?

You have great sports! I’m sure four sports is a strong EC section. Could you list your accomplishments and awards?

Keep me updated on how your SSAT goes! Did you take your interview yet? That’s very important; if you haven’t you should start preparing answers and questions for the interviewer.

Legacies these days don’t have much of an advantage because the talent pool is so large, so don’t bank on your brother attending Hotchkiss as an advantage.

Just make sure to do well on your SSATs! I think you have a fighting chance to getting in, as long as your essays, teacher recs, interview, etc., go well.

Good luck! PM me if you have any more questions.

You never know but last year Hotchkiss only accepted 16% of all applicants. Very selective so you might want to make sure you have some other schools on your list. Always best to apply to 3-5 and not put all your eggs in one basket. What other schools are on your list?

i have know idea at my school they dont give out gpa’s… i kinda scored a 1734 on the ssat do you think i still have a chance? i am retaking the ssat in january i hope i do better… the reason i did so bad last time was because we signed me up two weeks before the test so i did not have much time to study… also my grades this quarter are super good!

Because im awesome! JUst kidding, I just dont want to leave my home town its awesome here, people are laid back and chill. And i dont think i am ‘fit’ for boarding schools! So yeah! its all my decision :D
