So, originally I was going to apply to a bunch of schools (Exeter, Andover, Tabor, etc.), so I did my Candidate Profile online at the Gateway to Prep Schools thing. However now I've decided I will only be applying to one, Hotchkiss. Also, I prefer to do things on paper rather than online. Should I fill out another Candidate Profile on paper and just continue the process using paper, or should I fill out the rest of the application on paper and end up having submitted 2 Candidate Profiles? I am going for my tour/interview on Thursday so should I just ask then?

Also, who should I ask to write my personal reccomendation? I am interested in doing soccer, sailing, and track at Hotchkiss, so should I try to get my track or sailing coaches to do it? (Soccer coach is pretty uneducated and would not be fitting to write a reccomendation)

(Note: The reason I am only applying to Hotchkiss is because it is the only HADES school with a sailing team. Also, I have my local magnet school, which is great, and a top-ranked public school, to fall back on if I don't make it to Hotchkiss)

Milton also has a sailing team, and it’s a great school as well. Sorry for not answering your question; I’m not sure how.

Candidate profiles are only online. I’m not sure if Hotchkiss requires one but if it does you would complete that and just take the schools you had previously listed for it to get sent to(if you did) and just send it to Hotchkiss. Also Hotchkiss probably has some supplementary applications to fill out on paper like some project or something I don’t remember.

St. George’s has a fairly robust sailing program, afaik.

If you prefer doing the process on paper, I’m sure you can. That’s why it’s there! (Or at least that’s my reasoning and what I’m doing for my application.) And yes, I suppose you could ask on Thursday. I’m also applying to Hotchkiss:)

@PaperIdeas and SevenDad- thanks for the info, I chose Hotchkiss because it was closest to home and that’s important to me.
@Helloel- Thanks, yeah I know it requires other forms and essays and such.
@Aubreygal- (: Cool, as a Prep? (That whole system still confuses me. I understand that it’s like tradition for them, as well as Groton and some other schools, to say Prep, Lower Mid, Upper Mid, and Senior; but I don’t understand why they don’t just like change it to the ‘standard’ Freshman, Sophmore, Junior, Senior… Is it because it sounds more ‘elite’ to say you are a Prep than a Freshman??
