Hotchkiss!

Has anyone visited the school? The campus looks amazing and I've been reading reviews on BSR and it seems great. How are the dorms, food, academics, etc.? Is it possible to take two foreign languages?

if you like a beautiful campus, really smart kids, huge endowment, great college placement.

But they lose to Salisbury every year in football. This does not amuse them.

Hope this helps.

But they always beat Salisbury in field hockey!

True dat. I'm pretty sure Salisbury has also never beaten the 'Kiss in volleyball or swimming ('tho there was that contested meet in '64).

On the other hand Salisbury has never lost a crew race to Hotchkiss.
Don't see this result ever changing.

Are there any Hotchkiss students here that I can ask questions to? I think Hotchkiss is slowly rising on my list!

i visited their campus right after thanksgiving and i wasnt too impressed.
upperclassmen's dorms arent that great.
and i also didnt like how everything seemed to be in one building.

but it does seem like a good school for academics

Hotchkiss is currently number 2 on my list....same question as crickett232, can someone give some additional first hand impressions about Hotchkiss?

ok. from my impression when I visited my school was that lakeville was the quietest, most peaceful ever. The lake was probably grows mosquitoes in the summer. But the rest of the campus is as good, if not better than any other school. As a Swimmer, they have one of the best facilities I ever been in. 50m ten lane pool!!! thats 2 pools to swim in. Hotchkiss is a really nice place for students to bond because there is almost nothing to do around it. It's in the middle of nowhere. Hotchkiss is one of favorite schools on my list.

iHerculez: Do they have a diving well??
Swimming pools are my #2 criteria for these schools :) Haha!

iHerculez
im not that much of a swimmer, i'm more of a basketball and soccer type...did you notice anything extraordinary about those fields and courts?

The single building (well, not quite, but let's roll with that) experience is one of those things that distinguishes Hotchkiss from other schools. On paper, it may seem the same. But with most of the academic day taking place in a single building (the science building is separate), some will find that to be too cramped or not enough like college. Others, however, will find that it promotes a sense of community and breaks down barriers and keeps everyone connected to each other.

That's an important distinction. You will probably have a good idea of whether it's for you or not. The statistics don't bear it out. This is one of those things that people talk about when they refer to "fit."

@ cOllidE.: If you visit the campus, you'll be impressed that, as with the swimming pools, the basketball courts are twice as long as those at most schools!

Cricket;;; Yeah there's a separate diving well. The place is just amazing. I'd probably get lost swimming there =] I mean, the pools is 6 times the size of my team's pool!!!!

Actually, the pool might be too big for its own good. The heats go by in a flash.

Collide: the basket ball courts are like D'yer maker said. Huge. I play soccer too and when I saw the fields, they were green!!! probably one of the best and most peaceful fields i have ever been too.

really great school, I've been there. I even got to sleep in one of the dorms. The students are really smart but their not total nerds if you know what I mean. They're really diverse and pretty sociable.

On the application, what can we put in role/position if we are participating in spelling bee?

What place you came in.
