Hotel and Restaurant recommendations

My DS and I are planning a visit to the campus in October. What are some hotel and dinner recommendations? I would like for us to eat lunch on campus so he can get a feel for the campus. Which dining hall would be best?

Hi Bandmom3 - My son is a sophomore (in the band) and we haven’t eaten on campus or around campus too often as we usually come on game day it’s soooo crazy. However, early in the season when AU was scheduled for afternoon games we did take my son and some of this bandmates out for Italian at a restaurant next to the Hilton Garden Inn - Venditorri’s…excellent service and food and they did take reservations. I would like to try the new Wellness Kitchen near the stadium, but not sure how packed it will be during parents weekend.

BTW, got a text from my son this morning that this years halftime show and music (at least the first one) is so awesome that Jordan-Hare is going to FLIP when they hear it! So excited. Kids are at their last practice now and then off to end of band camp banquet - sooooo fun for them!

Thank you @threeofthree. Do you have any hotel recommendations?

AU Hotel and Conf Ctr is very nice but very expensive (to me anyway) on football weekends w/ minimum 2 night stay but if it’s in your budget go for it,

Hilton Garden Inn on Hilton Garden Inn Drive next to Venditorris - we’ve stayed they’re and it is fine - have not stayed there on football weekend though.

There are other 2-3 star hotels around town that may be priced and open for football weekends but not sure.

We have stayed 30 min drive away at the Homewood Suites in Columbus, GA after the UGA and Iron Bowl games - it’s nice.

Thanks!

If your budget can handle it I’d definitely stay at the hotel at auburn. That way you just park your car and don’t have to negotiate finding a spot. If you’re into asian at all there is a really good korean bbq place right downtown that we love

The Hound at the north end of the College St. downtown area (actually a block in to the east near the parking garage is a fun, casual place with excellent food. Another decent place that is slightly more formal but no means stuffy is Amsterdam Cafe.

The Hotel at Auburn is super convenient to campus, and allows for walking everywhere which is a huge plus.

Yep - definitely agree with Auburn Univ Hotel & CC if not a football weekend…prices are too bad and the hotel is very nice. You can walk the campus from there.

That was supposed to say prices “aren’t” too bad…I can’t type tonight.

Thanks everyone! Hubby is booking tomorrow at the AU Hotel & CC.
@Lumpty is The Hound close to the hotel?

Ten minute walk tops from the Auburn Hotel & CC to The Hound.

Niffer’s for food and drink!
