hotel for UVA college visit

Any hotel recommendations for an upcoming UVA visit? We only require clean and inexpensive. Thanks.

as a recent alumn I’m geared towards the cheapest place while being reasonably comfortable, close to grounds, and easy(free) internet access.

See Budget Inn if this matches your needs. [Budget Inn Charlottesville - Welcome!](http://www.budgetinncharlottesville.com/)

We’ve stayed at various Marriott properties in Charlottesville. All were fine (though Courtyard-North was going through a much-needed renovation when we were last there.) We generally select based on location.

Courtyard Marriott-Medical Center
Walking distance to campus, lots of restaurants, and the Corner. Also walking distance to downtown pedestrian area though a long walk. Parking is not easy on the UVA campus, and this hotel has a parking garage. (In the same area as this Courtyard is a Red Roof Inn and a Hampton Inn.)

Fairfield Inn-North Charlottesville
On 29, the main shopping drag in Charlottesville. 29 can be a parking lot during football season. Way too far to walk to UVA so you have to drive to campus. It is next door to an Applebee’s.

Courtyard-North Charlottesville
Near the Fairfield Inn, also off of 29.

Residence Inn (haven’t stayed)
Near the Barracks shopping area (lots of stores and places to eat). You can walk to campus but a longer walk than Courtyard-Medical Center.

We have also stayed at the Doubletree, further out on 29 than the Fairfield Inn-North and Courtyard-North. It was nice but far from campus.

If you want to splurge, try the Boar’s Head Inn, a few miles from campus. It has a spa, great sports facilities, and even hot air balloon rides. It also has an amazing Sunday brunch.

The Cavalier Inn is also very convenient and inexpensive–at the corner of Emmet and University. You walk across the street and you are on the edge of Grounds. Lodging also includes a continental breakfast.

Thanks for all the recommendations…look forward to the visit!

There’s a Red Roof Inn on the corner too. Cheap, clean and very convenient. The Courtyard Marriott Hospital location is also great. Just about a block up the street from the corner.
