Hotel / hospitality internship

Hi. I'm going to be a senior next year and am a cornell hopeful. I want to go to the hotel school. Since I have to show the school I have interest in the field I am looking for an internship but it's IMPOSSIBLE to find an internship in a hotel. What else could I try?! Thanks...

work as a waiter?

It’s definitely NOT impossible to find work at a hotel— maybe not an internship, but you can easily be waitstaff, a host/hostess, pool attendant, valet, etc etc.

disney has a pre-college internship (i think?) thing that you can apply for

You don’t necessarily need to find an internship at a hotel. Just demonstrate that you have passion for hospitality via other means–volunteer work, waitressing, organizing events, etc.

I just completed a hospitality finance internship on Maui with a four-diamond hotel. They provided room and board for 3 months, along with minimum wage pay. New interns arrived every month throughout the year and a lot of Hawaiian resorts have similar programs. I currently work at Disney and they offer some pre-college internships, although the Parks & Resorts positions are often not related to hospitality operations.

Here is a guide I made about the internship application process at Hawaii hotels:

Good luck!
