hotel management major

So is it true that after you graduate and start working you start out cleaning rooms and stuff at hotels? I hear all these rumors from people telling me not to major in hotel management... thanks

uh…

the hotel industry is only 1 area of possible future employment…

though my friend who did an internship at a 5 star hotel over the summer did have to do every part of running the hotel…

i mean…most managers actually DO start out from the bottom >>

it’s really a great major. yes, you’ll start off at the bottom, but with a degree from Cornell, it won’t take you long to climb the ladder.

how many times do you stay at a hotel and the person cleaning your room is a Cornell grad? I’d bet it’s somebody named Maria instead. You’ll certainly have to learn how to maintain rooms properly, but it’s a small part of learning the ins and outs of the business. The graduate salary survey results tell another story that would silence the skeptics.
