Thanks!

The Nittany Lion Inn is right on campus; the Days Inn and Atherton Hotel are each just a block away. There are also a few lovely B&Bs that are walking distance to campus.

The Hotel State College, above the Corner Room. Not many rooms, but right on college ave and walking distance to everything.

If you don’t mind a quick drive, the Hilton Garden Inn is is newer and quite nice and has very comfortable beds…plus tends to be a bit cheaper than Atherton and the Nittany Lion Inn.

The Hilton Garden Inn also has a great (locally owned) restaurant, Harrison’s.

We stayed at The Penn Stater two weeks ago for an accepted student’s reception. It was really nice, staffed by Hotel Management Majors at PSU. They have a very large three or four lane pool, nice restaurant (with free continential breakfast). It’s about a two minute drive to the University. A room with two double beds was $109 a night.

I would stay there again.

From a budget-minded parent: We’ve always been satisfied with the Motel 6, a mile or two north of campus along Atherton St. No extra amenities, but a clean, decent room and bath. Coffee, etc. in lobby, and AAA rates start around $45, but can double, depending on the demand, season, and campus events. Two weeks ago, they were in the early stages of converting to a slightly less economical chain, planning to add an exercise room and continental breakfast, with higher rates to come, of course. Reserve early, as they are often booked up, especially during this transitional time when fewer rooms are available.

I’ve had great success using Priceline - I can usually get a room much cheaper and at some of the nicest motels/hotels.
