Hotel Recommendations

Hi all. We're going up for orientation later in the month and wanted to know if anyone has any hotel recommendations.

Thank you!

Lots of threads on hotels, here is the latest with my recent comments. Good luck.

A few months ago I stayed at the Residence Inn Suites, it is new and the decor is very nice; they serve a very good breakfast. I got a suite for $119/night (1-bedroom suite) King size bed, kitchenette, living area with pull out full-size couch. I tried to book it again, and I missed the opportunity to get it for $99/night. Anyway, the price is way up there, so I deferred my stay.

This time, I will be staying at the Staybridge Hotel for New Noles Orientation May 26 (it will be my first stay there). They have suites too, just like Residence Inn, and breakfast, but it is a little further away. I decided to stay because it had excellent reviews on Trip Advisor, and it is another opportunity to see another part of Tallahassee since my visits there have been limited.

Staying at Res Inns that is close to acmpus is convenient . It is filled with other new noles. It will allow you to meet many other new nole parents at the breakfast. I found this aspect fun and comforting.

Thank you all for responding!

Need to get on this asap… orientation is 5/27!

We have stayed at the Wingate by Wyndham twice before. we will be there for Orientation on 6/8/09. Also booked parents weekend and the day we move her up there. the hotel is great. Parents weekend was expensive due to the game.
We stayed at the Residence Inn a year ago and it was very nice. My only objection was that you had to go the front desk for ice. At the time, they kept it in a cooler under the desk and it was starting to melt. Later that day I went to get some out of the freezer and it was frozen into a solid block. Besides that, everything else was great including the free full breakfast (seating was packed, and we crowded 5 around a table for two). The rates are much lower over the weekend.

We’ve also stayed at TownePlace Suites on Capital Circle and the Fairfield Inn on North Monroe. Both are Marriott Hotels and are also nice places to stay. TownPlace has both efficiencies and one bedroom units with full kitchens. The Fairfield offers a free light breakfast (waffles, cereal, bagles, etc). We sort of like the Fairfield best because of the free breakfast and the Taco Bell right next door.

Just returned from a two night stay. We took our small dog this trip and stayed in a different hotel then our previous visits. We stayed at the Quality Inn on Monroe at I-10. With AAA discounts the room was only $48 a night. The room was clean and smelled of disinfectant (a smell my husband didn’t like, but I found comforting…at least the staff used a cleaning agent. LOL). I’m always worried about finding a dog smell in hotels that allow pets, but was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case. The hotel is old and it shows…chipped tub, extension cords, door frames need painting, but the beds and towels were clean and fresh. The staff was very nice. They offer a free continental breakfast including waffles, bagels, doughnuts, coffee cake, hard boiled eggs, cereal, oatmeal, apples, oranges, orange juice, coffee, hot chocolate and assorted hot teas. The lady taking care of the breakfast area couldn’t have been nicer.
