OMG! For May 2015? Have not even thought about it. Wow.
It’s for May 2016! @rockvillemom. I would like to know the answer to this also. I went on one Burlington hotel’s website just to see if I could book at room and it said no rooms available.
That’s what I meant, lol! You had me so flustered! Adding to my to-do list.
Saturday, May 21, 2016 here we come!
My understanding is that most hotels open their reservations for next year’s graduation immediately following this year’s graduation. So that’s today, or maybe tomorrow. Would probably be worth calling today to find out. I’m thinking a phone call is better than online.
Just called the Hampton Inn where we usually stay and they are opening up reservations on June 1st at 8 am.
Perfect - we’ll see you there!
I have been ton2 graduations. We chose not to deal with the crowds at Burlington hotels and stayed in Greensboro. It is only a 30 minute drive and we didn’t have to fight for parking at night. We also had dinner in both Greensboro and Durham and did not try to eat at the Elon area restaurants. Good luck next year and enjoy your final year at Elon. Graduation is a great time and has special memories.
We had a wonderful time at grad this week-end! (S’s girlfriend.) The weather was absolutely perfect!! Another option if you don’t want to be with the masses in Burlington is the Comfort Suites in Whitsett. It’s just a 10 minute ride west from campus, and on graduation day you can avoid the traffic back-ups on Williamson Ave. We had a very nice room (suite) and while there were other Elon families there, it was pretty quiet. No problem getting a good parking spot at all. This hotel had been recommended here on another thread, and I was happy to know of it when we made our reservations this past winter. Gf’s family stayed at the Grandover Resort just outside of Greensboro - about 25 minutes from campus, quite upscale in look and feel, but rooms were just $199 - not much more than the Burlington mid-range brand’s jacked up rates. FYI, we ate at the Fat Frog for lunch after grad, and at Pandora’s on Sunday before leaving town, and had no problem getting a table at either place. Saturday celebration dinner was at the classy restaurant at the Grandover which was totally away from the crowds.
Thank you both for the wonderful suggestions.
