Hotel School interview ???

I already had an offcampus interview with an alumnus in my area which was totally informal, but I've heard scary stories about the real ones on campus. Mine is coming up really soon...

Can anyone offer up any words of advice, past experience, consolation?

<a href="http://www.hotelschool.cornell.edu/prospective/undergrad/apply/interview/%5B/url%5D">http://www.hotelschool.cornell.edu/prospective/undergrad/apply/interview/</a> might be useful.

Just think about why hotel school/hospitality and why Cornell and be able to articulate in a conversation with an admission rep or faculty member why it is you want to go and what you can offer. Just like any other interview be prepared to ask thoughtful questions. I would recommend going to the informational meeting before hand with the tour. It will give you a little bit more to talk about and a way to be more specific. They ask everything from the cliche What kinds of books do you read? and How would your friends describe you? to more specific questions about hospitality and yourself. Be prepared, confident, honest and relaxed when you go in and you'll be fine

i'm going to have off campus interview too. Do I still need to attend a campus interview (hotel school) at Cornell, if it is, when and how to contact and who will be the interviewer? Actually I live 10 hours drive away from Cornell?

if you are having a hotel school interview off campus you don't need an on campus interview. If you are having an alumni informational meeting, that does not replace a hotel school interview

My hotel interview was actually very chill--it didn't seem like a big test or anything. No weird questions. Overall, it was more informative than evaluative.

was the interviewer... hospitable? HHSAAHAHAHHJHAAHAHDAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1@@!

egregiously bad humor :p

speaking of being hospitable.. i oughta bring the interviewer a hot towel or something

Just curious...how many of you hotelie applicants already have experience working in hospitality?

Pretty sure they said 80% of students accepted have work experience related to hospitality. I worked in a restaurant and at a hotel.

i had my interview on campus w/ the econ professor. it was scary, but they just ask normal quesitons on experience in hospitality and leadership. and then the fire alarm went off during my interview. =)
