Okay, so after leaving this forum for a month or so I decided to check back to see if anything is new.

I just found out from this site that the Cornell Hotel School is Rolling Admissions... I NEVER KNEW THAT!

Does anyone know any info. on that?
When do USA people start hearing back? Do they get their decision online before in the mail? Or do they get an email?

I believe it's not rolling. I mean the decisions might be rolling say after a certain date (March 15?) BUT it certainly does not mean you hear back from them less than 2 months after you applied for RD.

i've been reading some of those posts and a mom from last year said that only a few people found out right around th 15th. most people had to wait longer so just don't get your hopes up. i applied during the ed round this year and thought the date was the 14th. then it was the 15th. it bounced around until it eventually landed on the 19th, and even then, 3.5 hours after they said they were going to release it. honestly, those were the worst 5 days of my life until i found out that i got in!

I hate to break it to you, but Penn State is NOT rolling admissions. I have friends that applied in August and September and STILL have not heard a decision one way or another. At Penn State, they make decisions based on your major and GPA. Some majors are harder to get accepted, some are easier. It's tarded and I feel bad for my friends.

Post has nothing to do with cornell though sry.

I applied to Penn state in August and got a response back in November. Even if they do it by major or GPA or whatever, the process is still considered rolling admissions.

Although Penn State has a modified rolling admissions policy. Applicants for first-year (freshmen) admission are strongly encouraged to submit a complete application by November 30. Complete applications include the counselor information page, transcript, and SAT I or ACT scores. Although applications submitted after November 30 will still be considered, the competition for many campuses becomes greater after that date.

It is still an advantage to apply as soon as possible, thus making it a "rolling admissions" system.

Please don't start being nervous in two weeks. It's a very, very small number of people who actually hear that early. You'll save yourself a lot of trouble if you just expect your decision to come in late March. The vast majority of people will hear around then. Forget about rolling decisions. I know that's easier said than done. ;)

I am going to ABSOLUTLEY agree with what cornellpride just said. The vast majority of people will hear in late March- try to forget about rolling decisions.

I'm probably the mom that rollercoaster referred to. As my d is now a Senior in ILR, I've been on these boards for a few years now.

Yes, some kids do find out between 2/15-3/15 (or thereabouts). But it is just a handful of kids who fall into that category. Most of the decisions- including lots of acceptances-- are sent out late March.

Those earlier acceptances seem to be sent out in spurts. so do not feel the need to run to your mailbox everyday. A good source of info is college confidential. When the first acceptance comes out, you'll know as someone will post it on these boards.
also realize- that Hotel, ILR and CALS acceptances will be sent out on different days. so it may appear that notices are being sent out more frequently than they actually are.

I can only speak for ILR- as that is what I follow more closely.
I think they only had one or 2 rolling decision mailings before late March and only a handful of cc kids got notified in the early phase.
just try to relax during the next few weeks- Good luck to all.

this is not correct - if you are sure and the Hotel School is your very very first choice and financial aid is not a major criteria , apply ED to Hotel...if you read carefully you will understand that Hotel is NOT rolling admissions but rolling decisions on a limited basis...i.e. a few people hear earlier than April 1 (or whatever the date is that most people hear.)
