I'd just like to know from current Hotelies or other people on these boards who know a lot about the Hotel School whether the school gives enough electives to its students to really be considered a hospitality management education along with a liberal arts education.

Also, I wouldn't mind working for the hospitality industry for a bit after college, but ultimately, I have no real idea what I would like to do. Maybe I'd continue with hospitality, maybe not...I'm undecided about career paths, as I'm sure many high school students are, but Hotelies always seem to have a set idea on what they're going to do. I'm just wondering if the Hotel School would really be for me if I'm so undecided.

I believe that the hotel school offers concentrations in certain areas? Like if you wanted to do finance you could concentrate in finance, isn't that right? Also, if you look at their post graduate report a large proportion of the students go on to finance, banking, and risk analysis jobs - certainly not just hotel jobs.

right, i guess i should decide whether or not it's worth it for me to go to cornell hotel school for 4 years paying that much money if i dont really want hotel jobs. I could probably get jobs in finance or banking by just going to the McGill Management program I got into. I don't know...I really like Cornell though, I'm semi-attached to it cuz I spent a good part of my summer there last year and I'd love to go back for undergrad. I hate having second thoughts.

well, each school and major have their own requirements to transfer. The internal transfer division (http://www.sas.cornell.edu/ITD/) is there to help you, as well as the admissions office for the school you want to go to. I transferred into AEM from another major and the requirments were: to have a certain GPA (cant remember what it was), to have taken 2 business courses, and to have take macro or microeconomics. Plus a letter of intent.
