Hotel Transfer 2009

but i dont think thats accurate: according to the hotel school out of 49 applicants 22 were accepted. did you get the other thing i sent for the external applicants

i would look at this: out of 197 applicants, 65 were accepted

i think you’ll get accepted. i really do

what, who? me?

yes. you.

:D haha wow. well, i really appreciate what you said in the thread. a boost of confidence is something i really need right now.

Trust me–that information is accurate. In fact, I still have the welcome-back email in my inbox which my friend from Cornell forwarded to me. You’re just looking at two spring semester’s ago, which is giving you a false impression of the increasing competition. Standards have gone WAY up. That is why a 3.3 GPA is very low for transferring–even a 3.51, no offense Remy. Also, it may put you both at a disadvantage not having completed the SAT reasoning test. They really like to see it, even if you didn’t take them in HS.

Here’s the email to prove my claim:

Greetings From The Dean

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year!

The school has been quiet without the usual bustle of classes, but busy nonetheless. On Wednesday, Dean of Students Judi Brownell welcomed 31 new transfer students to their first day of orientation activities. The group is made up of 17 internal transfer students, one enrollee in the employee degree program, two exchange students from CU Hong Kong, six students from the Culinary Institute of America, and five from other universities. I hope that many of you had an opportunity to say hello to them this morning as they toured the school and hotel.

This week we have also been hosting another group attending the General Managers Program. Vicki Westfall and the rest of the Executive Education staff have been working hard to ensure that the 28 general managers in attendance have the best possible educational experience at Cornell and emerge from the program positioned to advance their careers significantly. The January session of the GMP was added in 2006 to meet the growing demand for this excellent, 26-year-old program.

Over the break I visited with almost 50 alumni at an event hosted by the CHS Southern Florida Chapter at the Key Biscayne Yacht Club. The Big Red reception at the hockey tournament in Estero was also a nice affair. There were several hundred Cornellians in the crowd, and I had a chance to talk with at least a dozen Hotelies. All in all, it was a great trip.

The weather here in Ithaca is decidedly un-Florida-like right now, but that means that conditions can only improve. Think spring, give our new and returning students a warm welcome next week, and have an enjoyable and successful second semester.

Sincerely,

Michael D. Johnson

Yeah, rough.

was this for the fall or spring semester?

i thought you said only 5 external transfers were accepted in the spring?

the 22 external transfers was for 2008 out of 49.

well i’ll start expecting the worse now.

The above information is for Spring, 2009.

if you look at the numbers for fall 2008, the gts and internal transfers are seperated from the external transfers

but i did take the SATs

Well i’ll put it to you like this. Numbers can be deceiving. I wouldn’t look too much into it because that was the spring and the fall admits more transfers.

i thought only 22 external transfers were accepted out 49

is everyone getting excited for the transfer decisions beginning this week!

super nervous actually.

joechef84,
i’m not a hotel school applicant, but i just have one question.
how do you know that cornell’s releasing their transfer decisions this week?? I thought its supposed to be after like next week…
or is it just the hotel school??
