Hotel Transfer 2009

i really think you’ll get in before i do

I spoke with heather fortenberry from the hotel school and she said that some have already gone out and more will be going out via mail starting mid-april.

I also spoke with Undergraduate Admissions they also said that they will be going out mid-April as well via mail first which will be uptated on the online acct status.

idk man. i don’t know.

im serious. i really believe that

well let’s hope the admissions committee sees me in the same light as you do! but seriously, essays can’t possibly have that much weight.

i think your a better applicant than me. what about the esssay?

your insane, joechef! you have better stats and notable work exp. i’m not playing this game anymore, haha. no more talks about chances for me. it’s driving me crazy 0_o.

maybe i should call them tomorrow to see if they came to a decision…maybe they’ll tell me over the phone?

im serious remy. im thinking about withdrawing actually. i dont think i have a chance. i think you have a much better chance of getting accepted. as far as calling the hotel school, they will not be able to tell you anything over the phone, just be patient

ha-ha-ha. your funny ^_^. that’s just silly talk.

i actually accidentally clicked that withdraw option a couple of times. scary stuff.

ok im not going to withdraw but i think that you and calpoly will get in rather than me.

still there?

alright i’m signing out. see you guys tomorrow.

joechef: you are definitely overthinking the admissions process. i am sorry that my comments may have made both of you more nervous, but instead of going into the situation overconfident, it is wise to be prepared for the worst – especailly because the hotel school has always been competitive to get into, and even more so in the tightening economy. coupled with increasing amounts of applications, it is really rough for everyone.

i doubt we’ll hear in the next two weeks even guys… wait it out.

your right calpoly. i’m certainly by no means assured admission into the hotel school. if its meant to happen then its meant to happen. i put my best out there so well see. but i know if im accepted i already received guaranteed housing since im married and have a child and cornell is considering me as an “independent” student so they are basing my income soley on my wife’s and I’s income.

Joe, I find it funny that you would put Remy and I ahead of you in chances, because your GPA and letter from your boss (along with employee of the month) are EXCELLENT factors to your application–probably the most important of all.

I overloaded my file with 6 professor eval’s, additional essays, and my GPA is significantly lower (3.3). Though it’s higher than a 3.0, they are looking for people who demonstrate consistent achievement… even from high school.

I have a lot of insider information because my best friend is a Hotellie. However, she is considering leaving the Hotel School though with 2 semesters remaining, because the Hotel School is teaching how to establish a business in the previous economy. She is frustrated by their inability to truly be “cutting edge” and teach according to the current status, as there are constantly new challenges coming about.

Joe, how long do you think it may take me to receive my letter? My application was officially forwarded on Friday of last week. Also, would you be interested in reading my supplement essay?

Yeah i’ll be more than happy to read your essay. As far as your friend is concerned, I’m sorry she feels that way. There is no doubt the economy is bad right now, but it isn’t going to stay this way forever. I believe that what you make out of your educational experience will translate into whether or not you will be successfull one you graduate and have a innovate career. Still I firmly believe that Cornell is worth going to and having on one’s resume. After graduation, there will be good jobs to choose from. The recession won’t last forever.

P.S. do you want to read mine?

They have already sent out emails to accepted CAS students.

really? how do you know?

undergraduate admissions said they would be sending out my via mail
