Hotels and other Accommodations in Annapolis

Hey, this is for all the parents who already waved off their youngsters for USNA and other midshipmen that can answer.

So, the days are flying by and I-Day is steadily approaching. Totally excited, but I have a question for all you that hopefully I can get answer to before I have to dig into the depths of the internet.

My parents are coming down for the ceremony, and I was wondering if anyone knew a good website that provides information about lodging within the city around the base, and maybe some other "attractions." When I graduated boot camp in Great Lakes the command sent out brochures to all the parents about accommodations and stuff.. not likely to happen this time around.

Thanks!

USNA.COM website has an entire section for corporate sponsors. Many hotels offer discounts to USNA parents.

Attractions:
Walk the town- visitor center offers a nice historic tour if walking is not an issue- wear comfortable shoes, or be adventerous and do it on a segway! Lots of quaint streets, shopping, eateries, etc.

Take a tour of the yard- starts at visitor center and is a wonderful way to spend the day- try and do it the day before I-Day when the crowds are less

Annapolis Mall (A/C, so good if very hot)

ps- forget attractions on I-Day-
USNA IS THE ATTRACTION!

Whenever we go to visit son at USNA and other son in college in NJ we always use hotwire. Put the location as annapolis. Several choices will pop up ranging in star rating.

In order to get a heads up on which hotels they might be refering to use betterbidding.com. The site has compiled for years a list of hotels cross-referenced with the listed amenities (icons) on hotwire.

So far, the site has been off once in over 25+ purchases. The forum has the listing under the state of maryland with the annapolis area pinned with known and purchased hotels.

The 4 star is the Westin which we have stayed at for $60-70 per night. The Inns of Annapolis for $32 per night, the Sheraton for mid $40s per night and others. The site can change prices many times a day and even within a transaction.

Hope this helps.

Good ideas, all. In addition to betterbidding.com, www.expedia.com lets you see the identity of the hotels before you guarantee your reservation. I have used them successfully many times.

Note: Best Western in Annapolis is somewhat old and sparse, but is always clean, and their price includes breakfast. If you don’t have much $$, it’s not a bad choice.

Oops… totally didn’t even think about Expedia or Hotwire… haha, thanks everyone for the very informative answers!

Since you are on active duty now, you can also book a room for your folks at the Navy Lodge, although that might be sold out by now. If you check them in with your ID, they can stay at the lodge. The rates are reasonable and it is located on the Naval Station side of the Severn right across the street from the commissary and exchange. Info can be found at this site: <a href=“Login - www.usna.com”>US Naval Academy Alumni Association & Foundation - www.usna.com;

I have used [Annapolis Accommodations - Fully Furnished Homes](http://www.stayannapolis.com) for booking homes/condos etc for I day, weekends, etc . Really reasonable if you have family or friends staying as a group. It beats a hotel room if you’re in town for several days. My personal favorite is the chuch that’s a condo just outside the gate. Like the hotwire deal for hotels. Also, there are a few rooms at the BOQ on campus. I’m not sure what availability is like but if you’re looking for a room that’s affordable, near or on campus, and if it isn’t a weekend that would normally draw a bunch of visitors it might be a great choice.
