Hotels and Restaurants in Tallahassee?

We have a very short visit to look at the school at the end of July. I’d love some recommendations for favorite hotels & restaurants.

Hotel will really depend on price range, I feel. The hotels closest to campus, especially along Tennessee Street, are not the best. Hopefully you are not coming to Tallahassee around graduation; even for the summer the number of hotel rooms available is limited. If you’re willing to drive about 10-15 minutes to campus, there are a number of hotels along Apalachee Parkway (US 27). The Four Points by Sheraton is really close to campus, but I’ve never stayed there, so I can’t give a review. University Inn & Suites is next door to campus and cheap, but it’s really nothing to write home about.

For food, depending on what you want:

Pizza: Momo’s on Tennessee (NW corner of campus), Gaines Street Pies (along Gaines Street, S side of campus)

Tacos: Taco Republik (in Midtown), Tacospeak (corner of Tennessee & Stadium drive, across the intersection from Momo’s), El Cocinero (down Tennesee Street, a couple miles east of campus). For authentic Mexican, La Fiesta along Apalachee Parkway is great. Chuy’s is good too, if you’re down with a chain location. For a more Americanized version, Cabo’s along Apalachee Parkway (just down from Chuy’s) is good, too.

Greek/Mediterranean: Pita Pit (down Tennessee, west of campus), Pitaria (along Tennessee, east from campus but near the Fine Arts building).

Burgers/Sandwiches: Wells Brothers Bar & Grill (along Tharpe Street, between Ocala Road and High Road) and their companion location Midtown Caboose (near Lake Ella) are hands down two of the best burger places in town.

Madison Social is a popular place, too. It’s along the S side of campus as well, in the Collegetown area.

Tallahassee has something like 700 restaurants within the city. I could keep recommending restaurants for probably hours.

@Pasbal Thank you! Finding cool restaurants and checking out the popular areas in a college town is one of my favorite parts of a college visit.
