Hotels in Annapolis

Can anyone recommend a hotel close to Annapolis? I am planning on going to the track meet on Feb. 17-18.

I am attending a training conference there in early Feb.:

Driving/Lodging

This year visiting students, military included, will be staying at the Loews Annapolis Hotel on West Street in downtown Annapolis . Loews is within walking distance of all downtown attractions including the Naval Academy. Walking time to the Naval Academy will take twenty minutes, so visiting guests are encouraged to dress for long, outdoor walks in February.

Driving directions and other hotel information is available at the hotel's website.

The Lowes and O'Callaghan's on West Street are comparable in price and both are about at the edge of reasonable walking distance.

The Marriott is very close, right on the waterfront, but most expensive of the three.

There are also "boutique" hotels very close to USNA. Historic Inns of Annapolis is a group of properties, all in historic downtown, worth checking out. Winter rates are about $150 per night:

If you're spending more than one night there are lots of close in B&B's but many have 2 night minimum stays:

We routinely use Country Inn and Suites- located a short drive away (about 5 miles) from the academy, but quiet and across from the Annapolis mall. They provide a free shuttle downtown and to the academy, at least on weekends and for major events. New, clean, pleasant, and very reasonable. Now that I have given away my secret they'll be no room for me anymore!

Chick and Ruth's Deli and Hotel.......right on Main street. Delicious and fun.

There was an EconoLodge and a Motel 8 (I think) that were just across the river, close and very reasonably priced.

The hotel that hazmat recommends is the Scotlaur Inn, right above Chick and Ruth's Deli on Main St. -- 5 minutes from Gate 1. I STRONGLY recommend this place if you want a real close in "historic Annapolis" experience.

It looks like the Blue Van goes to O'Callaghans and that they have a shuttle in the morning to the Academy--has anyone ever done it that way? Looking at a CVW...

We're going down there in a couple of weeks but we found a hotel (forgot name, but not generic one) at a walking distance of academy at a fairly decent price.

heartcross theres another thread on this topic in the parents chat room. has good info. my mom and I are going out feb 24-25 were staying at the navy lodge.

the thread is called candidate visit weekends for usna

the navy lodge is really nice. the women's swim team stayed there the night before we beat army for the 17th year in a row, and it was sweet.

We're staying at the Lowes. It's supposed to be nice, on the water, and very near the Academy

Unfortunately, Lowes is not on the water, but it is in town, just past the main shopping area and within walking distance to Gate 1.
From what I remember from our visits, the Marriott is the only hotel located on the water.

Correct -- the Lowes is on West Street, a little under mile from Gate 1. The Marriott is the hotel on the waterfront and is the closest of the chain hotels to the gate.
