Hotels in Claremont CA area

Hey parents! Do you have any recommendations of decent hotels when visiting the Claremont colleges? So many have gotten bad reviews. Where have you stayed? Thanks!

We stayed at a Doubletree close to the airport that is nearby (Ontario?) The hotel was fine and quiet. You do have to get on the freeway to get to the colleges but it is a short drive.

We stayed at the Claremont Inn. It's within walking distance of the campus.

We absolutely loved the Sheraton Suites Fairplex in Pomona. A friend of mine who works at CMC highly recommended it--the trustees stay there. Plus, the bedroom is separate from the living room--D slept on the sleep sofa while we had the big bed. Very comfortable and about a 5-10 minute drive from the campus. Ask the Claremonts about discounts through them.

M-A-R-R-I-O-T-T is all i have to say! i work at one here in ohio. anyways i would suggest going to www.marriott.com and type in claremont, CA.. there seems to be 3 properties within 10 miles: Fairfield Inn, Ontario Airport Marriott, and Residence Inn.. there's also many more hotels within 20 miles. ch ch ch check it out! =)

Check out the travel forum at http://www.fodors.com/forums/threadselect.jsp?fid=1. It's a fun forum and lots of good suggestions for accomodations etc.

We stayed at Claremont Inn but try to stay in the rennovated building otherwise you will have clean but extremely worn out rooms. Good location however.

I would not recomment the Claremont Inn, unless you REALLY need to be that close to campus. We stayed in one of the "renovated" room, and paid a slightly higher price for being in a "premier" room (or whatever their euphemism was). That meant we got a remote control for our TV. The room was just above the "nasty" classification, the beds were terrible and the A/C didn't work. The continental breakfast , held in another building on the grounds that needed renovations and updating 10 years ago, was underwhelming and overpriced. What a generally unpleasant experience. I understand they were either about to be sold or had been recently sold (I forget) when we were there a year and a half ago. Clearly theyw ere not sinking much money into the property. Shame. They have large grounds with lots of potential. If is was a nicer property, I imagine the trustees might stay there.

I think I stayed at an Embassy Suites in the area - it was acceptable and moderately priced.

I second the Sheraton Suites Fairplex. We stayed there when I visited Scripps, and it was wonderful, both price-wise and room-wise. If you get the chance, try the tortilla soup in their restraunt. Some of the best I've ever tasted! :)
