We're visiting for a football game this fall.
We booked at the Hotel Indigo, because the website said construction would be finished 2/09. It looks like something's wrong because it's no longer listed online.
So we're starting over again...does anyone have suggestions about hotels in Knoxville for a football weekend?

Don’t know anything about football weekends, but during my two visits we stayed at the Hilton Knoxville and Four Points Cumberland House and I would recommend both of those.
Both are a little under a mile from stadium.

If you don’t mind being a little bit out of downtown we’ve always had good luck at the comfort suites in Strawberry Plains (exit 398). You can go down to campus early or there’s a shuttle from the hotel.

We tend to go early, find a place to park, wander along the strip and then campus. We try to be on campus in time for the salute to the hill.

Try the Comfort Inn and Suites off the Cedar Bluff Exit.
Its a great hotel and its great if you’re going to the game.
When I was there, a bus/shuttle came and took people straight to the game and back to the hotel afterwards.
Also, there’s a courtyard in the middle of the hotel with a pool and grill.
There was guy who was going to the game cooked for everyone there while we were staying there. It went through some renovations a couple years ago so its seems brand new.
Here’s the site for the hotel:

Here’s the page on the Choice site for it:

It’s a great place to stay.

For football weekends, we always stay outside of the downtown area. Expect to pay double the normal rate if you stay in the downtown area during a football weekend. We usually stay at the Comfort Suites in Strawberry Plains since we are coming from the east it is the most convenient for us. Easy to get in and out after a football game. And like wharfrat2 said there is a shuttle bus that picks up you and returns you after the game. We have never used it. We prefer driving in and parking in one of the many pay lots on the strip. If it is not a football weekend, we like the Hilton downtown. Also many of hotels in the downtown area have a 3 night minimum during football weekends. Go VOLS!
