Hotels near campus

Visiting next week with my daughter. We have a morning tour and info session. Any recommendations on where to stay that is close to campus, with easy parking and safe? Also where would you recommend to go for dinner near the hotel but with a campus vibe (I know it's Summer and the students won't be there!).

Thanks!

The embassy suites is close to campus in a pretty good neighborhood.i know just across the river there is a shopping mall with some good restaurants including champps and Outback Steakhouse.

Embasy suites is really close and nice! Free breakfast and happy hour every day. Plus it’s only about 5 minutes from campus. I would recommend checking out and eating in Carytown. It’s about 10-15 minutes from campus but it’s where a lot of students go to hang out and eat. Carytown has lots of restaurants and is always really fun to explore!

We have stayed at Hampton Inn 5406 Glenside Dr, Richmond, VA ‎ many times. Inexpensive, near many restaurants on Broad St., five minutes from campus, great staff, good free continental breakfast (better than usual), free wi-fi and the suites are very large with a fridge.

We have also stayed at Hampton Inn 10800 W Broad St, Glen Allen, VA. It’s a couple minutes further away but you can walk to a very good diner. This one is also closer to Running Pump Mall area with many restaurants. I think this one was a couple bucks cheaper too.

Also, make sure to mention you are visiting UR. Some hotels give discounts.

We have stayed at Country Inns and Suites (8010 W Broad St Richmond, VA 23294) on several occasions over the past 2 years while visiting our son at UR. It is clean, about 10 minutes from the school, and has freshly baked cookies each evening. If you call them and ask for the UR rate, you will get a much better rate than on any website.

I really appreciate the hotel and dining recommendations. Thank-you! Although my daughter visited some schools in the Spring with her father, this is my first college trip with her. I have an older daughter going into her junior year in college but she is up in Maine (we live in the Philly area) and she only looked at schools in the Northeast. My youngest wants better weather so we are heading south this time! I assume I’ll be taking 95S down most of the way, but if anyone has a better idea, please advise! Different kid, different student, different interests…different schools…looking forward to it.

As a mom who had two students at UR I would recommend staying at the Hampton Inn in the area considered Innsbrook. It is close to 64 and right off of Broad Street which offers many restaurants and the Short Pump mall minutes away. There are hotels slightly closer but in my experience it was not worth the additional costs. Any hotel in what is considered the “near” west end is in a good location. Their are tons of hotels in this area and surrounding Richmond in general. One of the many things I liked about Richmond is there are many options for hotels and restaurants and shopping and you don,t have to pay a fortunate each time you are in town.

oh, rrrsmom is right…Running Pump is an area near where I live. SHORT Pump is the mall in Richmond. Her Hampton is the same as Hampton. I second her vote!

Anyone ever stay at the Residence Inn? Mixed reviews on trip advisor so wondering the real deal.
