I'm coming down for the Honors Invitational at UCLA and I was wondering if any frequent UCLA travelers/current students could give some advice on hotels (for me and my parents) near UCLA and not overly expensive ($300+ a night I found at one place!)

I was able to find a coupe places via a quick Google Search, but I'm sure some more "experienced" people here will have some good advice on a place to stay.

This will be my first visit to UCLA and I'm very excited :).

It is probably lesser expensive to stay near LAX, or in Culver City area. LAX is still Los Angeles. Neither are too far from UCLA.

This is a list of places to stay near UCLA, from the UCLA web site. Sorry, I don't know how to post it as a link.

I would recommend staying at the Royal Palace Hotel in Westwood (across the street from Ralph's). I've visited the hotel several times a few years ago when some friends were staying there... It's simultaneously the least expensive hotel and the closest one to campus (excluding the UCLA Guest House, of course).

I stayed at the UCLA Tiverton House when I went to my orientation. They charge the same rate as the UCLA Guest House and of course no tax. This hotel is right by Ralph's at the corner of Tiverton and Le Conte, but it mostly caters to individuals affiliated with the UCLA medical school, especially patients of the UCLA Medical Center.
