Well, I cannot find a hotel with rooms available for my father on parents weekend - October 16th. Is that a common occurance? Or do we have to wait until closer to the time before hotels start opening up rooms?

Parents weekend is in Spring - October 16 is a football weekend. April 15-17th 2011 is Parent weekend - book it now

October 16 is a Parents or Family weekend, klparker.

I think it’s a special deal where they are offering special pricing on football tickets, maybe for first time Aggie parents/families. Unfortunately rooms can be a problem. willieb, when you are checking hotels, you have to reserve both Friday and Saturday night on football game weekends. Otherwise, they may show that they are not available. Try checking some of the new hotels, like the Ramada Inn on Highway 6 at the University exit, or the Best Western on Highway 6, or Country Inn and Suites on Highway 6. You might have better luck there…

Yes, they were pushing the football weekend at DS’s NSC. Great deal on the tickets if you’re an Aggie fan.

klparker, what is the April parent weekend like?

The College of Architecture had a welcome breakfast on Saturday morning and special events for parents. I suspect other colleges did the same. The Aggie Mom’s boutique was a huge event for parents. There is a special Yell practice on friday night to kick off events, a special Breakaway for parents, it was during baseball season, so there was a baseball game. And a sneek peek for football season with the Maroon & White game. Lots of events to attend. Ending with an All University awards - and announcement of Parents of the year.
